Prerequisite skills: Your child must be comfortable using the keyboard and mouse/trackpad. No prior knowledge of 3D printing or 3D design is necessary.

Technical requirements: Unless otherwise noted, your child will not need to bring their own computer or any other supplies to class. All software used is web-based and can be freely accessed from home. You may wish to send your child with a USB drive for transferring files.

Bring your ideas to life! In this four session class, your child will get to experience what it’s like to print their own designs in plastic. The class will utilize a Monoprice 3D printer and the free Tinkercad online software, which students will be able to access from home even after the class has concluded*. Students will learn to use basic modeling tools on a 3D canvas to shape and create custom designs. They will get the chance to see 3D printing live and learn how to setup and operate the printer. Later on, they will learn how to create 3D models that can be imported into their Minecraft worlds, as well as how to build objects in Minecraft that can then be exported for 3D printing. In the end, everyone will take home their own 3D printed creations!

*Students who wish to keep their online account with Tinkercad will need an email address. Students who do not have an email address will be provided a temporary account.
